To becoming a member of the Canterbury Chess Club, please bring your subscription down to the club on a club night, and our Treasurer or Secretary will take it from there, including arranging payment plans as required. The best nights for new members to come along are Lightning and Grim Reaper tournaments - see our programme for dates. For prospective junior section members, bring your subscription to our Junior Development Officer on any club night.
There is a small fee to pay for the services we provide. The fee goes toward maintenance of the premises, insurance, rates, tea and coffee, equipment (sets and clocks), electricity, and so on, and also includes NZCF registration.
Subscriptions for 2020 are as follows:
Senior membership: $160
Unwaged/retiree/student membership: $120
Junior membership: $80
Country/casual membership: $80
New member special: $40 for 3 months
Family discount: $20 off for each immediate family member's subscription beyond the first
These fees were accepted at the AGM on February 26, 2020, and will apply until the 2021 AGM. The definition of a junior member is a player born on or after 1/1/2001, or a school pupil born on or after 1/1/2000. Country membership is available to members who live more than 30km from the clubrooms. Pro rata fees and/or casual membership is also available - just discuss your situation with our Treasurer or Secretary on a club night. Payment can be made by cash or cheque (made out to Canterbury Chess Club) to the Treasurer on a club night, or by using internet banking to the following account:
