To becoming a member of the Canterbury Chess Club, please bring your subscription down to the club on a club night, and our President, Treasurer or Secretary will take it from there, including arranging payment plans as required. The best nights for new members to come along are Thursday nights, although prospective members who are interested in playing in our tournaments can see our programme for tournaments and dates.
There is a small fee to pay for the services we provide. The fee goes toward maintenance of the premises, insurance, rates, tea and coffee, equipment (sets and clocks), electricity, and so on, and also includes NZCF registration.
Subscriptions for 2021 are as follows:
Senior membership: $160
Unwaged/retiree/student membership: $120
Country membership: $80
Junior membership: $80
New member special: $40 for 3 months
Social membership (Thursdays only): $80 or $20 for 3 months
Family discount: $20 off for each immediate family member's full year subscription beyond the first
These fees were accepted at the AGM on March 3, 2021, and will apply until the 2022 AGM. The definition of a junior member is a player born on or after 1/1/2003, or a school pupil born on or after 1/1/2002. Country membership is available to members who live more than 30km from the clubrooms. Pro rata fees are also available later in the year - just discuss your situation with our President, Treasurer or Secretary on a club night. Payment can be made by cash to the Treasurer on a club night, or by using internet banking to the following account:
